Happy Wet Thursday!! Kids are bringing home their unit 1 math test today. In class they completed a test autopsy. They went through their test problem by problem. They marked whether they got it correct or wrong. IF they got it wrong they then wrote why they got it wrong. If they choose to they can fix their test. They need to fill out a test correction form and then test and correction form are due back tomorrow. Kids had the chance to take one today in class if they wanted.
On redo work I average the two scores. We talked today that they can redo any test.
We were able to log on today and worked on our NWEA math test. Most finished, those that didn't will finish tomorrow. We also logged into Compass Learning for the first time. Compass Learning is an online program taylored to each student. It gives them practice in all ELA areas. Kids can log in at school and at home. Right now I just have them loggin in at school. Their user name and password is in the back of their planner.
Don't forget tomorrow is picture day! And Book Orders are due tomorrow too! And its a half day! I'll be placing the order at lunch time!
Today was a good day at school! we did Tropcal Island for social studies.
Thank you so much for those that were able to come to curriculum night. I know the beginning of the year is crazy with after school committments for kids. So don't stress if you couldn't make it. Your kiddo is bringing home our handbook to you tonight.
Here is the presentation as well as the hand book.

Sorry about not posting yesterday! Couple of great days! In case you didn't hear our chromebook arrived!! I seriously did the happy dance!! So excited. When we were in the computer lab earlier this week the kids organized their google drives. Today we only had the chrome books out for a bit, but the kids updated their account picture. We also talked about expectations with the chrome books. We will be going over that a lot in the days and weeks to come!!
In their science experiment kids learned that the gummy bear grew in each of the solutions. It was a fun experiment.
Today they brought home their first homework page in math study link 1-2. I also showed the kids where they could go on the website to find one if they every loose theirs. Can you find it? Go to curriculum on the top navagation bar, then to math, and then click on the unit. This takes you to the everyday math website and your child can print out the study links. They do have unit 1 in their binders.
We are slowly working on setting up our binders too... PLEASE do not remove anything from their binder. You can help them organize, but do not take things out. We will sometimes go back to something we have completed. Any work that comes home on Friday is yours to do with what you want!
Tomorrow look for the friday folder with information on picture day, PTO information and more!
Also, don't forget curriculum night on monday, 9/19 6pm in our classroom!
Another great day! We have jumped into curriculum too! We've started math. Kids spent some time getting to know their math journals and the student reference books. The kids did a great job. The student reference books are kept on a shelf in our room for the kids to access at any time!
We also started a science experiment with gummy bears. Kids put the gummy bears in 4 different solutions (water, vinegar, water and salt, and water and baking soda). This experiment is a way to have the kids practice using the scientific method. Check back tomorrow for some pics!
Wow!! We made it! It was an amazing week.
It was brough to my attention that our curriculum night is the same night as Pioneer's Open House. I have moved our curriculum night to Monday, 9/19 at 6pm in our classroom.
Your child brought home their Friday folder today. There is a note from Mrs. Mueller about 4th and 5th grade choir. Please have your child return the EMPTY folder on Monday!
Today the kids did their first break out! They had to work together to solve a series of puzzles to unlock 5 different locks. Inside the locked box was our learning ticket for this year. If the box was not unlocked the kids wouldn't be able to do any fun activities! They got the box unlocked in 15 minutes! I have some pics...but my phone just died...I'll post them sometime this weekend.
Have a fantastic weekend with your families.
